In Saarbrücken's city forest, visitors will find easy walking paths, viewpoints and barbecue areas.The city forest's facilities include the wildlife park and an arboretum, a collection of 75 rare trees and shrubs. As one of the most densely wooded cities in Germany, Saarbrücken offers a variety of springs, fountains and forest ponds, easily accessed via public transport or using the many forest car parks.
Added together, the forest areas of the Saarforst Landesbetrieb and the areas of the Stiftswald accounts for around 46 per cent of the total area of the city of Saarbrücken.
